I was always tempted by the megapixels, super-duper sensor, and not to mention the glorious giant LCD screen with the newer models, but as age progresses, so does the financial responsibilities... thus this remains a 'plan', and it will probably stay at this status for a little while ;)

I can't say I'm complaining because I'm actually quite happy to find an alternative with my iPhone! Check out all these pictures in this post which were all shot with an iPhone 4.

There's even a new term coined for it: iPhoneography. With the numerous powerful (and relatively cheap) editing apps available, these photos were edited on-the-fly either on the iPhone or iPad.

I have a blogger friend, YTSL, who is an avid trekker based in Hong Kong. She has been a regular trekker to almost every 'trekkable' trails in HK, and that made me decided to try out a trekking trail to a reservoir not too far from my home recently. I brought only the iPhone and it did not disappoint me at all :)

No regret waking up early on a weekend and taking the iPhone along!

Of cause there are stuff the iPhone cannot do as good as the D100, but with the light weight, convenience, powerful editing apps, and fairly good picture quality (and BIG screen!), I'm into iPhoneography ;)

Wow!Lovely reflection and cloud,
looks like your I phone can do wonders and by the way, where is this trail?
Thomas: it's a trekking trail leading to a reservoir near Ampang, Selangor.
These all look wonderful! It is hard to believe how far technology has come.
I like Solitaire. That goes to show doesn't matter what you shoot with. It's the person who makes an image...not the tool :)
Btw, I am thinking of getting a secondary camera for travelling as my current backpack containing my camera actually weighs 4kg!!
I am keen on the Leica D-LUX 5 compact. Have read good reviews about it and it comes with free download of Adobe Lightroom 3. What are your thoughts on this?
Beautiful series!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Those shots are really excellent! Iphones as phones are too expensive for me, I think, but I'm wondering if they might make sense as a super-light camera to have with me when my Nikon D90 and huge lens are not practical.
Very cool images. The scenery and sunbeams are beautiful. Happy skywatching!
Mei Teng: the D-Lux 5 is my dream! I'm also looking at the Nikon J1. They both have the same clean design and I guess the J1 is probably cheaper, at RM2,500+/-. But the f2 lens is really tempting me, not to mention the Leica logo ;-) And I heard it comes with Lightroom 4 now!
If I could afford I'd go for the Leica. BTW how much is the Leica?
I've checked with YL and it's going for RM2.7k without camera case. I think it's a good deal as it comes with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.
I might get this as I get a secondary camera as well as good photo editing software. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone!
Mei Teng: this sounds like a good deal! Maybe we buy together, and get an even better discount?
;-)
Carol: iPhone is definitely a good alternative camera, to me at least!
beautiful! such magical lighting!
Gorgeous! Visiting late from Sky Watch Friday.
Please come take a peek at my Sky Shots, have a great weekend!
YL is not known for discounts. But after commenting about the price offered by Shashinki they quoted me RM2.7k without camera bag.
I am still thinking whether to buy or not. Will wait and see.
These are outstanding; gorgeous!
I'm surprised that photos taken by Iphone is that good!
Hey, I finally bought the Leica D-Lux 5 today. Now, trying to figure out how to use Lightroom 3. Gosh...it will be a steep learning curve for me since I know nothing about Lightroom.
The camera quite impressive. It has almost all of the functions like that of my slr...minus the weight of course.
Mei Teng: COOL!! Wish I'd made up my mind as soon too. Hmm this will keep u busy for a little while!
What marvellously serene and lovely shots.
Yes. I have to read up the camera manual and figure my way with Lightroom 3.
I tested out the camera and must say so far, quite impressed with the quality.
